Sara Holden
I am a junior majoring in biological sciences on the pre-dental track, and I greatly enjoy spending my time to help plan various service events around the Columbia area for the service committee. Service is the heart of AED, and I love getting the opportunity to give back to the community and building relationships with other pre-health students as we work towards a common goal.

Now, I love the service committee as a space to share valuable community service opportunities with other members of AED. Healthcare is service and I can’t wait to see how AED members go on to serve in their respective careers!

I joined the social committee because I wanted to contribute to creating fun events where AED members could come together and feel more connected with one and other. Working with fellow members on the social committee has taught me so much about collaboration, communication, and has allowed me to showcase my more creative side as well. It has been amazing to watch our ideas for events come to life.

I'm from Columbus, Ohio- go bucks!
Claire Page
Hi everyone! My name is Claire and I work on the social committee here in AED. Joining a committee has helped me feel more connected to AED and the members within it. It has allowed me to gain more from my AED experience, connect with new people, and I have absolutely loved giving members opportunities to relax with fun activities during stressful times of the school year. I joined social committee to find a deeper sense of community within AED, support fellow members, and form relationships with people I might not have met otherwise. My fellow committee members are wonderful, and our social chair Kelsey supports us through all the events- they are always the highlight of my week!

I have been singing since I was four years old!
Rithi Ramamurthy
My name is Rithi and I am a sophomore BARSC-MD major! I have always believed that self care is so important and as healthcare professionals in high stress environments, it is essential to take care of ourselves so we can provide the best care for our patients. For me, that outlet has always been music, art, or even just spending time with my friends. As a part of the Wellness Committee we get to mix creativity with collaboration as we come up with unique events to promote wellness in AED. For example, I absolutely loved planning the cooking class with the Center of Health and Well-Being and it was a really fun break from a stressful schedule.

I've gone swimming with dolphins before!

Tina Ngo
I am a junior, majoring in biological sciences, and on the pre-med track. I applied to DE&I because I think it’s really important as future healthcare providers that we educate ourselves on communities from different backgrounds, especially in such a diverse area as the south. That way, we can understand the experiences others have in healthcare settings and offer the best care to our patients. Outside of AED, I’m involved in MedElem, VSA, and WeRead, and in my free time, I enjoy reading and working out.

I have Celiac! (I’m gluten-free!)

Without understanding and knowledge of other aspects it, you cannot reach your full potential. Finding community within anything is so important, and being in Allied Health, I will be able to promote that within AED and within peoples different passions.

I work as a Bridges Aide at The Therapy Place!
Mariclaire Murdaugh
